Paris-Nice: BORA - hansgrohe behind expectations on first mountain finish

Stage 4 of Paris-Nice took the peloton from Saint Amand Montrond to the race’s first mountain finish at La Loge des Gardes, covering a distance of 164.7km. A breakaway of seven riders was up the road for most of the day but was brought back just before the final ascent. On the last climb, Maximilian Schachmann and Bob Jungels were not able to follow the main GC contenders and lost contact with the first group early on the climb. T. Pogačar ultimately secured the win, while Schachmann and Jungels finished in 22nd and 23rd. In the overall Maximilian Schachmann is currently sitting in 13th.

From the Finish Line

“Yesterday, performance-wise, we had a good impression from the guys. Unfortunately a few things really went wrong today. Our GC leaders, Maximilian Schachmann and Bob Jungels, were without the support of teammates too early. Especially on the approach to the last climb, the support of a teammate would have been very important. In the end we’re not where we wanted to be and didn't ride the way we wanted to. There are still four stages to come, so we have to set new goals and make sure we get going again.”Rolf Aldag, Sports Director
