Ben Zwiehoff and Emanuel Buchmann fight their way into the GC Top 10 at the UAE Tour

The seventh stage of the UAE Tour was the final decisive test for the GC riders. In the finale, the riders took on the numerous hairpin bends of the 10.8 long and around 6.6 percent steep Jebel Hafeet climb to the finish. The peloton thinned out on the final climb, but Ben Zwiehoff was able to follow the attacks until 6 km before the finish. When Evenepoel, Yates and Kuss attacked, Ben was forced to drop back somewhat. The German rider continued to fight for a good position in the GC, finishing in 9th on the stage, while teammate Emanuel Buchmann finished 11th. BORA - hansgrohe completes the UAE Tour with Ben in 8th and Emu in 9th overall, and second and third place by Sam Bennett in the sprints.

From the Finish Line
"We have to say a big thank you to our teammates today. They did a great job keeping us out of the wind all day and out of the stressful situations at the beginning. They also did a great job to keep us supplied with ice water and drinks, which was extremely important in almost 40 degree heat. We had a good lead-out into the climb but it was pretty clear that it was going to be a battle between the very best. At the beginning I had good legs and was able to stay with Yates and Evenepoel, but when they increased the pace it became a bit too difficult for me. I've never had a top ten result in a WorldTour race in my life, so I didn't want to push it. When Emu was able to catch up with me, we tried to attack and we were rewarded for our fighting spirit with 8th and 9th place in the GC. Of course we would have liked to achieve a top 5 result and at times it looked good, but in the end we got everything out of it and I am very satisfied. Our performance today was a step in the right direction." - Ben Zwiehoff
"We're very happy with today. The guys fought very well and Ben and Emu rode incredibly strong. In the end, they couldn't keep up with Remco's pace and had to pay for that a bit. Emu was slightly too far back in the climb and had to let go when Remco took off. But our two boys fought their way back really well. In the end we took another top 10 finish with Ben and finished the UAE Tour in 8th and 9th in GC. So we are very happy with that and should also highlight the performance from the whole team, especially Sam and the entire lead-out." - Bernhard Eisel, Sports Director
