Third place for Pascal Ackermann in Dubai at the UAE Tour
After the GC at this year’s UAE Tour was decided yesterday, today’s stage was another chance for the sprinters in the peloton. The 165 flat kilometers took the riders from Deira Island to Palm Jumeirah and a 6-men break went up the road early. But the bunch was always well in control of the situation and with 30 km to go the break was caught. Even another solo attack was launched, on the last 10 km all was set for a bunch sprint. BORA – hansgrohe was at the front in full strength when a last tricky wind situation occurred and Martin Laas and Michael Schwarzmann support Pascal Ackermann on the last kilometer. But Pascal found himself boxed in on the final 200 m and had to launch his sprint late. He came close on the last meters but couldn’t overtake the stage winner Bennett.

From the Finish Line
"The last 3 km on the coast had been really hectic. We knew that we had to be up there, and that worked out well. At the end we hit the front again a little early, therefore I decided to drop back a little. Unfortunately, I got boxed in then and also lost my speed. I had to wait long and accelerate again. The speed was there, but it wasn’t enough. I am sure we can make it tomorrow if we get the timing right." – Pascal Ackermann
"Everything went well until the final kilometer and the boys did a good job. At the very end we still struggle to get the timing right. It is very difficult in these hectic situations to hit the front at the right time, but today Pascal had the speed, and this might did cost us the win. Tomorrow we’ll have the last chance and of course we’ll give it our all to hopefully get a win under our belt." – Enrico Poitschke, Sports Director
